Experience, education & the person behind the work

A few things that shaped me.

I’m Muhammad Musa. I build software, study how language models fail, and teach computer science. The work has taken me from Lahore to Madison, with plenty of learning between the two.

A few turning points.

I’m Muhammad Musa, a computer science master’s student at UW–Madison. I work on language-model security, build healthcare software, and turn scattered ideas into useful systems.

From Lahore to Madison, the question I return to is simple. Who will this help? Sometimes the answer is a product. Sometimes it’s a better experiment. Often, it starts with finding out why something broke.

Teaching is part of that work, too. Explaining a system to someone else has a way of exposing the parts I don’t understand yet.

Lead Software Engineer

WUMI Health

I build the connections between a patient, their record, and the people allowed to use it.

  • Built patient onboarding, consent, lab orders and results, prescriptions, health IDs and report uploads in Flutter, PostgreSQL and Supabase.
  • Kept authorization close to the data through row-level security and audit trails. Appointment scheduling remains in progress.

Head Graduate Teaching Assistant · CS 320

University of Wisconsin–Madison

I lead a 20-person teaching staff and build the infrastructure behind a large data-science course.

  • Coordinate assignment logistics, grading consistency and student support. Automate grading with Python and the GitLab and Canvas APIs.
  • Built a MOSS-based academic-integrity workflow and explored local-model assistance for course questions. I keep automation tied to a clear teaching purpose.

Data Science & Software Engineering Intern

SAUDCONSULT

I worked on a pilot project-controls platform, bilingual document retrieval and inspection triage.

  • Scheduled ingestion with Airflow, validation contracts and replayable backfills. Used idempotent updates to make repeated ingestion safe.
  • Compared Arabic/English retrieval configurations and calibrated a classifier around the quality team's review capacity. A constrained text-to-SQL path selected from an approved metric layer.

Graduate Teaching Assistant · CS 220

University of Wisconsin–Madison

I helped students take their first steps in data-science programming.

  • Led Python labs and individual support in data manipulation, analysis and visualization.
  • Contributed project and quiz material and supported grading across a large introductory course.

Jan 2022 — May 2023 · Lahore

Head Teaching Assistant · CS 331

Lahore University of Management Sciences

I wrote programming assignments that made AI concepts something students could test.

  • Authored exercises in neural networks, Bayesian networks, reinforcement learning and constraint-satisfaction problems.
  • Helped students connect the mathematics to their implementations and debug the places where the two diverged.

Blockchain & Web Developer Intern

KASB Securities & TransformX

I built educational-credential software and web applications as an undergraduate.

  • Built an on-chain certificate system using Clarity contracts on Stacks, with a React and Next.js minting interface.
  • Worked on responsive web applications for a communications platform and integrated Stripe payments.

Who is this useful for?

A patient trying to carry their history between clinics. A student facing an unfamiliar idea. A speaker whose language is poorly represented in software.

These are reasons I keep returning to healthcare, teaching, language technology and security. I like working on a system all the way through: the data, the failure case, the interface and the explanation someone else needs to trust it.
